BMW knows that its designs are controversial. In fact, during the launch of the XM's launch, they said that the SUV was purposefully designed to look controversial and strike a conversation. That's practically the same case with the M3 and M4's ginormous kidney grilles. And if you aren't a fan of its bucktooth nose, then you better look away now, because the automaker is about to debut something that puts the size of the M3 and M4's grilles to shame.

BMW has grafted the M3 and M4's kidney grille into the main exhibition wall of BMW M's booth at the Tokyo Auto Salon, and it is, in a word, huge. The booth design is practically a way for the brand to troll the haters of the grille, signifying that it's definitely here to stay whether you like it or not. BMW Japan didn't state how big the grille is, but based on their photo, it looks like it's about as tall as three BMW M4s stacked on top of each other. It easily holds the record for BMW's largest grille ever, and it's only a matter of time before this will be grafted onto the face of a new BMW.

BMW says in their Japanese press release that the wall is meant to "look great in photos," and will serve as an excellent photo wall for those visiting BMW M's booth at the show. The Tokyo Auto Salon is a show for Japan's diverse and thriving aftermarket community, and so BMW M will showcase the M2 with M Performance Parts, the M4 GT3, as well as a plethora of BMW M Performance parts that you can opt to purchase for your vehicle. The booth will also display aftermarket parts for your BMW that aren't available in Japanese dealers.

To top it all off, the exhibit will showcase a new special edition BMW M model that is going to be unique to Japan. The German automaker hasn't revealed any details yet, so your guesses are good as ours.

BMW M just celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. To celebrate, the high-performance division of BMW unveiled a plethora of new models that range from the M3 Touring, M2, M4 CSL, and the highly-controversial XM super SUV. The 50th-anniversary celebration was capped off with the unveiling of the oh-so-special 3.0 CSL. The M4-based coupe comes solely as a manual and is probably one of the best designs BMW has unveiled in recent years.

The celebration also came with numerous events across the globe, and it gave us a peak of the first XM in Sao Paolo Yellow. This event in Japan might not be a celebration of BMW M's half-a-century of existence, but it's one that will be very special indeed for Japanese fans. The Tokyo Auto Salon will be held from January 13 to 15, and if you happen to be by the area, you'll have the chance to see the biggest BMW grille in history.
